Summer School Is Over! Yay!

I took up a really interesting course for the summer Physics-Introduction To Astronomy. It was such a fun class,so many things i learned about our skies and planets. Every night we would look at the moon and positions of stars.

Venus and Saturn are flirting in the sky.

Venus and Saturn were the two most prominent planets to be observed during the summer of 2013.  Also on June 21st we made our way through the summer solstice and observed the super super moon on the 23rd of June! How fascinating.

Exams came swiftly but i made it through with my lovely A! YAY ME! 

I am in an extreme amount of pain.. Yet, somehow, nothing specific hurts..Thanks a heap, Fibro.

What is Fibromyalgia?

For the past month I’ve been concerned with this disease ever since i got back my blood results.. My ESR values have exceedingly increase my psychiatrist suggested I see a rheumatologist for further evaluation. The ESR value indirectly measures how much inflammation is in the body. ESR stands for erythrocyte sedimentation rate.

So What is Fibromyalgia? 

Fibromyalgia is a disorder concerning the muscles. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain processes pain signals.Fibromyalgia syndrome affects the muscles and soft tissue. Fibromyalgia symptoms include chronic pain in the muscles, fatigue, sleep problems, and painful tender points or trigger points at certain parts of the body. Fibromyalgia pain and other symptoms can be relieved through medications, lifestyle changes, stress management, and other fibromyalgia treatment.images (2)

The Tender Points

A test is done to predict your disorders. Scores are given based on the evaluation. A score of 11 out of 18 indicates the disorder. 

My Tender points are:

  • Urinary Problems- Iv conduct many urine test and ultrasound. All test came back good.
  • Morning Stiffness
  • Sleeping Disorders- I sleep for most of my day.. I’m always sleepy..
  • Muscular pain- I have lower back for almost 3 years,xrays were done and my back is perfectly fine
  • Body aches especially the legs
  • The worst is my depression… I’ve been diagnosed with depression since i was 12.. Now 20.. i’m still on medications and therapy for major depression. 

However Fibromyalgia have no cure.. Exercise, relaxation and stress-reduction measures may help.

 

 

Beauty & The Beast

We have come to the end of this semester and i must say it was quite interesting. When first introduced to our lecturer,Mr Matthews  he was a bit intimidating.. A tough strapped beast stood in front of us for both lectures and tutorials. He remind me of The Beast from The disney movie “Beauty and the Beast”

Tutorials started off scary with Mr Matthews questioning us individually. I was so afraid to attend lol.. Thank god i didn’t get chosen to answer! 🙂 However as the weeks went by tutorials got a lot better and actually fun. And Mr matthews did not seem so scary as before. He’s actually a cool dude.. Giving us extensions on our labs and assignments. Cheers to Biochem JM 🙂 

Lectures and the youtube videos were quite helpful with my studies. This course was actually the best course i’ve done this semester. I’m looking forward for passing biochemistry and to attend more lectures by Mr matthews.

The Blog 

At first i must admit i hated the blog.It was time consuming and soo much work..But as the weeks pass, it turn out to be the most interesting project ever.

 The colours..The pictures..The wordles..The puzzles…it was soo my fun putting these things together..

Although today is the deadline of this blog..You would not see the end of me.. I will never leave this blog..My stories and humor will continue…

Amino Acids for Muscles Growth

Muscle mass declines gradually after age 40. Muscle loss eventually leads to decreased strength and quality of life. Muscle is in a con­stant state of synthesis and breakdown, and requires ade­quate protein intake to maintain size, even when overloaded through weight training. Amino acids that make up pro­teins serve as chemical sig­nalers and building blocks for muscle proteins.

People over 40 are less responsive to key amino acids, so they should con­sume protein often during the day to maintain muscle mass and prevent atrophy (muscle breakdown). Older adults should combine weight training and adequate protein intake to pre­serve muscle mass as they age.

Proteins are the fundamental building blocks of all living organism we currently know. Because of the large number and complexity of bio-molecular processes they are capable of, proteins are often referred to as “molecular machines”. Take for instance the proteins in your muscles: At each contraction stimulated by the brain, an uncountable number of proteins change their structures to create the collective motion of the contraction. This extraordinary process is performed by molecules which have a size of only about a nanometer, a billionth of a meter.

The Ending Of Week 12

Yet another week have gone by..and exams are right around the corner. :/

What a busy week of bloging since its due on the 13th March..And well studying for the in-course for genetics….sigh :/

On a good note..Im home sweet home! Yay! And im reunited with my bestest buddy in da whole wide world! Maya, my doggie ❤

Cool Fact About Maya…

Maya is an Italian Mastiff…Mastiffs are the worlds heaviest dogs weighting approximately 140kg. In height, adult Mastiffs are usually 70 to 85 cm at the shoulder. This means that their head is at the height of an adult’s hip. In weight, an adult Mastiff will generally weigh between 60 and 100kgs, more than many owners.

However, because Mastiffs grow into such large and powerful dogs, their temperament is extremely important. A dog the size of an adult Mastiff which had an aggressive or nervous temperament could be extremely dangerous. Mastiffs do not cope well with hot weather. They need a cool place to lie during hot weather and they will need even more fresh cool water than normal.
